It seems that some celebrities go way overboard with their plastic surgeries. Is it ok for them to continue changing their looks through plastic surgery just because they’re loaded with money? Or should someone stop them and make them take a good hard look in the mirror.
Michael Jackson is probably the best known example. If you compare his picture from his initial albums and CD’s with the man you see today you wouldn’t be able to tell that it’s even the same person. He looks freakish and there’s no one who can say he looks better today than he did 10 years ago.
And what about those celebrity women who go overboard with their lips. Pam Anderson, Loni Anderson and Goldie Hawn all look clownish today thanks to their extreme lip enhancements. Who told them that it was sexy to have lips like a camel?
Both Roseanne Barr and singing superstar Cher have had enough facial work done to make them look dramatically different than they did in the past. Just watch the opening credits of the show ‘Roseanne’ and you can see how her face has changed over the years. The comedienne Joan Rivers is another victim of too much facial work. Her face is pulled so tight from facelift after facelift that she needs to stand on her toes to spit.
These and other unnamed celebs have all had too much plastic surgery. As with most people, one or two procedures would have enhanced their looks and made them more attractive; however they seem to be like cosmetic surgery junkies and like junkies they have warped themselves in the process of ‘just one more plastic surgery’.

Plastic surgery is a fast growing industry as more people try to turn back the hands of time. Advertising on television, radio, in print and on the internet is one reason that cosmetic surgery continues to increase in popularity. Another reason is the easy availability of financing options these days when considering plastic surgery. This makes cosmetic surgery possible for many people who otherwise would not be able to afford it.
Because cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance; this leaves people to find other ways to pay for their plastic surgery. Doctor’s fees, hospital fees and anesthesia are just some of the costs incurred with plastic surgery. With costs as high as $10,000 for popular procedures such as liposuction and breast augmentation it’s necessary to find ways to cover the high cost of cosmetic surgery. Now many financial institutes and banks are willing to offer loans to finance peoples dreams of a youthful appearance.
Many people who would not be able to afford plastic surgery now can have these procedures within reach thanks to the cosmetic loan companies. The downside is that many of these companies will offer credit limits that are too high to those who should not necessarily qualify. In addition, the interest rates charged are exorbitantly high; they start from 14% and some even go as high as 30%. Add to that the 5-10% processing fees and initiation fees and the total cost of your plastic surgery can skyrocket.
Plastic surgery loans offer other downsides as well. The cosmetic surgeons often work directly with the lenders and will encourage their patients to use the lending services. Loans can be approved on the spot, even during the initial consultation. This often will prompt those who might have otherwise reconsidered to make a snap decision on the spot and opt for a cosmetic surgery they may have reconsidered. Since the patient is often already vulnerable and highly motivated to change their appearance the emotional factor plays a huge role in some people’s decisions to finance their plastic surgery.
If you are one of the many people considering plastic surgery, please take the time to choose a proper cosmetic surgeon. He or she should be board certified and have a minimum of 6 years of training and experience. You can also check to see if your cosmetic surgeon is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons; this group certifies that their members are properly trained and educated to perform cosmetic surgery.
Make sure you are well aware of the terms of any financing offer you are presented with before agreeing. You’ll want to make sure that you can afford the loan for your plastic surgery before agreeing to the additional financial burden it may put you under. You may be happy with your new look, but if you agree to a loan you can’t afford the happiness will be short lived.

Plastic surgery is any type of procedure that alters one looks or appearance and hopefully for the better. Some plastic surgeries are functional as well; like a rhinoplasty to improve someone breathing or plastic surgery performed on trauma patients to restore their previous appearance.
Looking for ways to improves ones looks is nothing new. People have always been looking for ways to make themselves more attractive based on the current standards of beauty. These days especially it is quite acceptable to have cosmetic surgery to improve your looks. People, especially in areas of New York and Hollywood, regularly discuss cosmetic procedures, even if they try to disguise the fact that they themselves have had cosmetic surgery.
There’s several factors that account for the popularity of plastic surgery these days. Many people in today’s society value youthful looks, whether for popularity, career or personal reasons. Baby boomers now in their late forties and fifties have the disposable income to ensure that they look 10-15 years younger if that’s what they want – and they do seem to want that in increasing numbers.
Another factor that contributes to the increase in plastic surgery is it’s increased exposure in mainstream media. Prior to 1979 plastic surgeons did not advertise. Now, plastic surgery is prominently advertised in print on the radio, TV and the internet. Because of this the number of people seeking plastic surgery has increased. Unfortunately so has the number of unqualified doctors offering cosmetic surgery.
The only recognized plastic surgery specialists are those doctors certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. These surgeons have been specially educated and trained to perform plastic surgery. Other surgeons performing cosmetic surgeries may not be well trained.
You are most likely the one who will pay for your plastic surgery. Insurance companies consider it elective surgery and therefore will not cover it. It’s common for people to forego other pleasures or even necessities to save up for their cosmetic surgeries in the hopes of becoming more attractive. Plastic surgeons now even offer financing to their patients and you can pay for cosmetic surgery just like a loan for anything else.
Hopefully you learned a little from this primer on plastic surgery. Keep reading an doing research to learn as much as possible before considering cosmetic surgery on yourself.
